When Violence is the Answer – Part 2
- When you are hurriedly walking in a public street, and the person in front of you abruptly stops, causing you to bump into them.
- When you are dozing calmly in your house after a long battle with insomnia, in your bed, alone at night, then a neighbour violently knocks on the door to borrow a matchstick or umueke token, or you receive a call from a friend who just asks you if you are already asleep.
- When you are cleaning the house, then one of your siblings/friends/roommates decides that they want to pass through that damp area you just cleaned, leaving their footprints.
- When you are walking to wherever, then a driver decides to splash dirty water on you in their haste to reach traffic right up ahead.
- When your ex wants to get back with you after they had made your life miserable by torturing you physically, mentally and spiritually, and you took a whole year to heal. Crap! You are still healing.
- When your mom leaves you to take care of the house and your younger siblings, on the very same day you had specifically asked for permission to go to your friend’s birthday party a month earlier.
- When you are just having a chat with your grown-up friends, then your child decides they want to play hide and seek under your dress or skirt.
- When you are in the early stages of dating, and your over joyous new boyfriend introduces you to his gorgeous ex while you are on your worst hair day with your worst outfit – in fact, your worst appearance.
- When you share some gossip with your close friend about something a victim told you, then hear about it in the sermon the pastor is preaching, and you turn to the friend and he/she mouths, “I’m sorry,” to you.
- When a bus conductor decides to ‘forget’ giving you back your change, and then, when you ask for it, they act like they still have no change, despite reaching your destination, and you had seen him helping his colleague with some change.
